How Minecraft chunk coordinates work
Chunks are 16 blocks wide along the X and Z axes. The calculator divides each block coordinate by 16 and rounds downward, which also handles negative coordinates correctly.
How distance is calculated
Horizontal distance uses the X and Z difference between two points. Add both Y coordinates to calculate full three-dimensional distance. The Nether travel estimate divides horizontal Overworld distance by eight.
